In July, Dr. Nithya Ramanathan, CEO and Co-founder of Nexleaf, Jim Fruchternman, Founder and CEO of Tech Matters, with moderator Amruta Byatnal, senior reporter at Devex, spoke at Devex World 2022 on the topic of recognizing and dismantling data colonialism.
“We need to be real clear, upfront, about who actually owns this data, and from our perspective, it’s the communities where the data is collected,” said Dr. Nithya Ramanathan, “we really expanded on that and thought about that like data is knowledge, knowledge is power, and power ultimately leads to money in the development space.”
